Balloon Bouquets Either as a decoration for your party or as a gift for a family member or friend, a colorful bouquet of balloons always creates a fun atmosphere. Birthday Bouquets Birthdays are the number one occasion for balloons all year long! Putting together a beautiful bouquet is easy! First choose 1-3 mylar balloons with a "Happy Birthday" message. Then pick an assortment of coordinating solid color or printed latex balloons. Get Well Bouquets Nothing brings a smile to the face of someone who isn't feeling well like balloons. Start off with a "Get Well" mylar ballon and add several assorted colored latex. (If visiting someone in a hospital, check the hospital's balloon policy; some only allow mylar balloons.) Seasonal Bouquets Balloon bouquets are also great for holiday party decor. For example, scatter black and orange latex bouquets around the room for a Halloween party. Mix in some mylars with a "Happy Halloween" message. Balloon Drops Want to turn an ordinary event into something spectacular? Try a balloon drop, one of the most dramatic special effects you can create with balloons. Air-fill 100-200 latex balloons and place them in a large plastic bag or net that is rigged with a cord to the ceiling. Get someone to pull the rip-cord and release the balloons. The effect is dramatic and quite special. Balloon drops are great for New Year's Eve. Pull the cord at midnight which signals the dramatic beginning to the new year. They're also great for grand openings, promotions, weddings, parties, theatrical events and much, much more! With an in-store balloon bar at every location, we can inflate your balloons with helium on the spot! We also sell HI-FLOAT and disposable helium tanks, which can inflate approximately 27 11" latex balloons. If your balloon order is large, rental tanks are also available at all Party America locations, just call ahead. Balloons can be pre-ordered from any of our Store Locations. General Information Your balloons float because they have been inflated with helium, a "lighter than air" gas which is non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Latex balloons are made from 100% biodegradable rubber sap. Mylar balloons conduct electricity when they come into contact with power lines. For this reason metallic or mylar balloons should always be attached to a weight and never be released. Mylar Balloons, inflated with helium, are optimal from 7-10 days, but will remain afloat up to 14 days. 11" Latex Balloons, inflated with helium have an average flying time of 8-10 hours. With the addition of HI-FLOAT, the average flying time is 1-2 days. Avoid exposing your balloon to extreme heat, as this could cause it to burst. In cold air, your balloon could appear deflated; when warmed up; it will fill out again. Ask your Party America sales associate to attach a weight to your balloon to keep it from floating away. Please keep in mind that these are estimates for typical indoor conditions. Float time will be less outdoors. Float time varies greatly due to factors such as latex quality, humidity, temperature, altitude, etc. Balloons typically float half as long in hot, humid weather. Balloon Filling Tips If you are filling your own balloons, follow these important tips: Don't blow it! Over inflating or under inflating your balloons with helium reduces their float time and looks unattractive. Do inflate balloons fully and carefully. The latex balloons that Party America sells will have a gentle pear shape when properly inflated. Safety Tips Latex balloons are made from 100% biodegradable rubber sap. Mylar balloons conduct electricity when they come into contact with power lines. For this reason metallic or mylar balloons should always be attached to a weight and never be released. Young children could choke on or be suffocated by an uninflated balloon or piece of a broken balloon. Adults should always supervise balloon use with children under six. Inhaling helium can result in serious lung injuries. Do not inhale helium from a balloon or a helium tank under any circumstances. Before brining balloons to a hospital, check on the balloon policy. Some will only allow mylar balloons. If you're doing a balloon release, use hand tied latex balloons only, no non-degradable attachments, and if string is used, short pieces only. Don't tie metallic ribbon to a balloon as metal conducts electricity. Party Checklist Print out our Party Checklist. |
